Sustainability
Red Eye truly believes that our success as a business is measured through our commitment to the community and the environment, paired with sound economic practices.
- Every effort is made to obtain local sources of our fresh herbs, salad greens, and other fresh vegetables.
- Our wood burning oven is fired with locally-sourced hardwoods, a renewable source of energy, which avoids the consumption of natural gas and electricity for our primary cooking needs.
- Our spent grain from the brewing process is provided to a local farmer, which he uses as a supplement for his cattle, eliminating it from the landfill.
- Our "downtown friendly" location is a quick walk for shoppers, Â or those catching a show at the Grand theatre.
- Our location right off of a designated bike route, along with our locally made bike rack encourages pedaling to and from the Red Eye. And if the bus is your primary mode of transportation, we are one block from the downtown terminal.
- Our dining room windows were made right here in Wausau at Kolbe & Kolbe, and utilize low E-cubed 366 glass. This glass reduces heat loss in the winter, and blocks harmful UV rays, reducing our consumption of energy.
- Our mens restoom has been fitted with waterless urinals, which save a combined 90,000 gallons of water per year!
